World Earth Day  marked with sustainability drive at Shoolini University

Solan, April 23, Shoolini University marked World Earth Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and a strong commitment to sustainability under this year’s theme, “Our Power, Our Planet.” The event was organised by the Director of Sustainability and Community Engagement, Mrs Poonam Nanda, and witnessed active participation from students across various schools.
The celebration focused on raising awareness while empowering students to recognise the impact of individual and collective actions on the environment. The event successfully encouraged participants to move beyond awareness and become active contributors towards building a sustainable future.earth day1.jfif
A series of engaging competitions were organised to provide students with a platform to express their understanding of sustainability through knowledge, creativity, and innovation. The Quiz Competition, centred on environmental awareness, climate change, and sustainable practices, saw the School of Biotechnology secure the first position, while the School of Bioengineering and Food Technology finished as runner-up.
The DIY Competition highlighted the importance of reuse and responsible consumption, where participants creatively transformed discarded materials into useful products. The School of Bioengineering and Food Technology emerged as the winner, while the runners-up included the School of Law, Yogananda School of AI, Computers and Data Sciences, and the School of Mechanical, Civil and Electrical Engineering. The School of Business Management received a special mention for its commendable efforts.
The Face Painting Competition showcased artistic expressions focused on environmental issues, reflecting how awareness can lead to meaningful change. The School of Bioengineering and Food Technology once again secured the top position, followed by Yogananda School of AI, Computers and Data Sciences, and the School of Mechanical, Civil and Electrical Engineering as joint runners-up.
Based on overall performance across all competitions, the School of Bioengineering and Food Technology was declared the Overall Champion, demonstrating consistent excellence and a strong commitment to the theme. The Yogananda School of AI, Computers and Data Sciences, along with the School of Mechanical, Civil and Electrical Engineering, were declared joint overall runners-up.
Director of Sustainability and Community Engagement, Mrs Poonam Nanda, emphasised that every small action and conscious choice contributes towards a larger environmental impact.
