Chandigarh: To raise awareness about aplastic anaemia and blood cancers, Livasa Hospital, Mohali organised a press conference in Chandigarh on Friday to highlight the importance of recognising warning signs, timely specialist consultation and advanced treatment.
Dr. Mukesh Chawla, senior consultant–clinical haematology & BMT physician at Livasa Hospital, Mohali said, “Aplastic anaemia is very different from nutritional anaemia. In severe cases, bone marrow fails to produce adequate red cells, white cells and platelets, leaving patients vulnerable to serious infections, bleeding and profound anaemia. Persistent fatigue, recurrent infections, unusual bruising or bleeding and abnormal blood counts should therefore be investigated rather than attributed to weakness or nutritional deficiency.”
