Chandigarh, May 15, In an effort to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage, folk traditions and social unity of Himachal Pradesh, the World Himachali Organization will organise the “First Annual Festival Nyunder-2026” on Saturday, May 16, 2026. The grand cultural event will be held at MCM DAV College, Sector 36, Chandigarh, from 5 PM onwards.

The chief guest for the occasion will be Lok Sabha MP Anurag Thakur. Apart from these, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sikandar Kumar, Rajya Sabha MP Anurag Sharma and MP Kangra-Chamba Dr. Rajiv Bhardwaj will grace the program as special guests..

One of the unique highlights of the programme will be the promotion of carpooling, inspired by the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aimed at saving fuel and encouraging environmental responsibility. The organisers will also promote the avoidance of single-use plastic during the event.

Addressing a press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club, Chairperson Asha Jaswal and President Amit Rana stated that the objective of the event is to bring together Himachalis living across India and abroad, while also connecting the younger generation with their roots, traditions and folk culture. They added that the festival will showcase the vibrant colours and spirit of Himachali heritage.

The cultural evening will feature a special performance by renowned folk singer Karnail Rana, who will entertain the audience with his popular Himachali folk songs. Traditional performances such as Himachali Nati and Jhamakda dances will also be presented, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Visitors will also get an opportunity to relish the famous traditional Himachali cuisine “Dham,” specially arranged during the event. In addition, an exhibition showcasing Himachal Pradesh’s glorious history, folk traditions and cultural legacy will be organised.

The organisers further informed that distinguished personalities from various fields will be honoured during the ceremony for their remarkable contributions.

The World Himachali Organization has appealed to members of the Himachali community residing across the Tricity region and nearby areas, as well as all lovers of culture and tradition, to attend the festival with their families.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson Asha Jaswal said the initiative is an important step towards preserving and passing on Himachali culture, brotherhood and traditions to future generations. She added that the organisation will continue to organise such events in the future to strengthen Himachali identity and cultural heritage at both national and international levels.
