Gurugram, 12 May: The Enforcement Wing of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority carried out a major demolition drive in Khetawas village, Farrukhnagar against an illegally constructed double-storey structure spread over approximately 800 square yards in violation of the provisions of The Punjab Scheduled Roads and Controlled Areas Restriction of Unregulated Development Act, 1963 (as applicable to Haryana). The structure was being used to run a school in an unauthorized manner.

Multiple complaints had been received on various public grievance platforms alleging fraudulent sale of land and unauthorized operation of the school at the site. The matter had also been raised during Samadhan Shivirs. Further, issues related to demarcation of the land were under consideration before the Hon’ble High Court as well as the local court.

GMDA had earlier initiated action against the violator by partially demolishing the boundary wall of the structure and issuing show cause notices and restoration orders. Taking strict cognizance of the continued violation, GMDA, in coordination with the Revenue Department, conducted demarcation of the site and proceeded with complete demolition of the illegal double-storey structure. The demolition drive was carried out with support from Farrukhnagar Police, which deployed around 50 police personnel to ensure law and order during the operation. Two JCB machines were engaged to execute the demolition drive.

Speaking on the Enforcement Drive, R.S. Batth, Nodal Officer for encroachment in Gurugram and DTP, GMDA said, “GMDA has reiterated that strict action is being taken against all unauthorized constructions and violations taking place in controlled areas. Show cause notices and warning notices are continuously being issued to violators. The public is advised to strictly comply with development regulations and voluntarily vacate illegal structures to avoid enforcement action.”
