The Golden Jubilee Alumni Meet of the Class of 1976, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sector-47, Chandigarh, was held on the school campus, marking 50 years of enduring friendship, shared memories, and achievements. The landmark celebration was the result of meticulous planning and close coordination between the alumni and school management, spearheaded by Dr Rakesh Gupta, Dr I.S. Kang, Brigadier J.S. Arora and Capt. Pradeep Gupta, whose collective efforts ensured the success of this historic reunion.
Dr I.S. Kang played a pivotal role in conceptualising and managing the cultural events, adding warmth, nostalgia and vibrancy to the celebration, and making the Golden Jubilee a truly memorable experience for all participants.
The event witnessed the gracious presence of Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria, PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC, Chief of the Air Staff (Retd.), a proud alumnus of the Class of 1976, along with alumni from across the country, former teachers, present faculty members and students.
The programme commenced with a ceremonial Scouts escort for the alumni, followed by a warm welcome address by the Principal, who highlighted the school’s achievements and expressed gratitude to the alumni for their continued association and support.
During the interaction session, alumni introduced themselves and shared inspiring journeys with the students, emphasising how the school’s core values of discipline, integrity, holistic development and co-curricular exposure laid the foundation for their professional success.
Dr Manjit Brar, former College Principal, recalled how teachers’ encouragement to read widely and explore ideas helped her build confidence and pursue her passion for teaching.
Addressing the gathering, Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria shared fond memories of his school days and underscored the importance of discipline, perseverance and hard work in achieving excellence at the highest levels.
The alumni later revisited their old classrooms, reliving cherished moments and reminiscing about favourite teachers and lifelong friendships. A friendly hockey match, led by Brigadier J.S. Arora, between alumni and current students added a spirited sporting touch to the celebrations, followed by a group photograph.
The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Mr Mukul Bansal, a successful entrepreneur, who specially acknowledged the contributions of Dr Rakesh Gupta (Former DHS, Punjab), Dr I. S. Kang and Capt. Pradeep Gupta for their tireless coordination with the Principal, school staff and classmates.
Dr Kang said that the he Golden Jubilee celebration not only rekindled old bonds but also reaffirmed the rich legacy of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sector-47, strengthening the bridge between its glorious past and promising future.
