Chandigarh, 21.08.2025: The Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration, in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Chandigarh, organized an Assessment Camp for Divyangjans today at Asha Kiran, Vocational Training Centre, Sector 46, Chandigarh.
The event was graced by Smt. Anuradha S. Chagti, Secretary, Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration, as the Chief Guest, in the august presence of Smt. Palika Arora, Director, Social Welfare, WCD.
Held under the Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances (ADIP) Scheme, the camp witnessed the participation of nearly 70 Divyangjans. After assessment, eligible beneficiaries will be provided with suitable aids and appliances such as crutches, hearing aids, wheelchairs, smart canes, and more.
A team of experts from ALIMCO assessed persons with different disabilities to recommend appropriate aids and appliances. Additionally, a UDID Registration Helpdesk was set up at the venue to facilitate beneficiaries in obtaining Unique Disability ID Cards. Information regarding various welfare schemes being implemented by the Department was also disseminated.
The initiative was well received by participants, who expressed gratitude for the support and services extended through the camp.
