Runs galore and wickets tumble on day five of Gully Cricket Tournament
Chandigarh: It was high-octane at day five ofthe Gully Cricket Tournament being organized by the UT Cricket Association (UTCA) in collaboration with Chandigarh Police, as runs flowed thick and fast while wickets fell in abundance.The standout performer of the day was Bijay Kumar who stole the show with a blistering unbeaten 99 off just 26 balls including 14 sixes and 3 boundaries. His explosive knock powered Team No. 284 to a dominant 141-run victory over Team No. 283. The winning team posted 239/4 while the chasing side was restricted to 98/7.
In another thrilling match, Vishu delivered a match-winning bowling spell, claiming five wickets for 22 runs which led Team No. 413 to a victory over Team No. 414. Batting first, the winning team put up 151/4 and the opposition managed 120/8 in reply.
Other results are as follows :Team no 124 beat team no 123 by 51 runs, team no 476 beat team no 475 by nine wickets, team no 348 beat team no 347 by five runs, team no 189 beat team no 190 by three runs, team no 509 beat team no 510 by four wickets, team no 511 beat team no 512 by eight runs.
Adding a heartwarming touch to the tournament, a cricket match for special children will be held on Friday at GMSSS-26 starting 9:00 am onwards. The event will be graced by Harsunder Pal Singh Brar, Director, School Education as the chief guest.
