SYMPOSIUM ON DRONES, AI, AND EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES AND THEIR IMPACT ON BORDER MANAGEMENT AND NATIONAL SECURITY

The Headquarters SDG, BSF Western Command, Chandigarh has organized a symposium at Sindoor Auditorium at BSF Campus, Lakhnaur, Mohali on 17th April 2026 . This was focussed on implications of drones, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies on border management and national security. Discussions were made on growing threats, smuggling & need for stronger coordination among security agencies.

Senior officers and experts from BSF Force Headquarters, New Delhi, field formations, the Indian Army Western Command, Indian Air Force Chandigarh, Punjab Police, IIT Ropar, Punjab University, IISER Mohali, Nano Science Centre Mohali, C-DAC Mohali, NIELIT Ropar and Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh were actively participated in the deliberations.
The symposium addressed rising threats from drone-enabled smuggling, surveillance and cross-border activities. Key discussions emphasized on deployment of advanced detection and counter-drone technologies, strengthening forensic analysis capabilities and ensuring seamless inter-agency coordination.
Experts underscored the need for a proactive, integrated approach to counter emerging technological threats, highlighting innovation, intelligence-sharing and capacity building which are critical to operational preparedness.
The event concluded with a reaffirmation of the collective commitment of all stakeholders to safeguard national security and effectively respond to the evolving drone threat landscape.
