Chandigarh, July 10: In a significant step towards making Chandigarh greener and more environmentally sustainable, Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria led a tree plantation drive at the Neighbourhood Park, Sector 28-B, Chandigarh.

The plantation drive witnessed the enthusiastic participation of Former Mayor and Area Councillor of Ward No. 10, Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla, BJP Chandigarh Vice President Sh. Devinder Singh Babla, senior officers of the Chandigarh Administration, Municipal Corporation officials, representatives of the Forest Department, local residents, social organizations and environmental enthusiasts.

On the occasion, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria planted a sapling and urged citizens to actively participate in environmental conservation by planting and nurturing trees. He emphasized that every tree planted today is an investment in a healthier and cleaner future for generations to come.

Former Mayor and Area Councillor Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla appreciated the initiative and reaffirmed her commitment to promoting green development across Ward No. 10. She stated that environmental protection is a collective responsibility and encouraged residents to actively support plantation drives and take care of the saplings to ensure their healthy growth.

Sh. Devinder Singh Babla, BJP Chandigarh Vice President, highlighted the importance of community participation in such campaigns and said that public involvement is the key to preserving Chandigarh’s unique green heritage. He appealed to citizens, especially the youth, to make tree plantation a regular part of their social responsibility.

The event concluded with a pledge by all present to protect the environment, increase the city’s green cover, and work together towards building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Chandigarh.
