Chandigarh, 20 March 2026: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Chandigarh UT, hosted a session on “Connecting Chandigarh to the World” under the theme “Building a New Legacy of Technology and Governance” at the CII Northern Region Headquarters in Chandigarh, bringing focus to Chandigarh’s evolving role as a globally connected, future-ready city.
In his keynote address, Dr Karan Avtar Singh, Former Chief Secretary, Government of Punjab, underscored the need to build governance models that place citizens at the centre, enabled by digital intelligence and data-driven systems. He spoke about leveraging technology to improve urban planning, promote sustainable mobility, and optimize energy management, while ensuring more responsive and efficient public service delivery. He further remarked, “Chandigarh is uniquely positioned to shape a future driven by strong infrastructure, progressive governance, and exceptional talent. By nurturing a vibrant ‘Ecosystem Of Innovation’ across sectors and establishing a “Global Multidisciplinary Research University’ with a dedicated research park, the city can evolve into a destination where people aspire to learn, work, and grow.”
The session reflected a forward-looking vision for Chandigarh that aligns technological advancement with sustainability and active public participation to drive inclusive urban development and global competitiveness. The session also included remarks by Mr Taranjeet Singh Bhamra, Chairman, CII Chandigarh UT and CEO & Founder, AgNext Technologies Pvt Ltd. The evening concluded with the first meeting of the newly elected CII Chandigarh UT Council for the year 2026–27.
