BJP Marks Foundation Day in Chandigarh with Grand Celebrations; Honors Veteran Karyakartas, Strengthens Booth-Level Outreach

Chandigarh, April 6, 2026: The Foundation Day of the Bharatiya Janata Party was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor at the party’s state office in Sector 33, Chandigarh. The event was graced by the presence of chief guest Ravinder Raina, former BJP Jammu & Kashmir State President and current National Executive Member, who is also the in-charge of this Foundation Day program in Chandigarh. The program was presided over by State President Jitender Pal Malhotra.
The event commenced with the ceremonial hoisting of the BJP flag by chief guest Ravinder Raina. On this occasion, Program Convener and State Vice President Rajkishore, Co-Conveners Meenakshi Thakur, Amit Rana, Avi Bhasin, and Shashi Shankar Tiwari, along with several party leaders and karyakartas, were present. State General Secretaries Ramveer Bhatti and Sanjeev Rana were also specially present at the event.
During the program, senior and veteran karyakartas were honored for their dedication, struggle, and invaluable contribution, which has helped the Bharatiya Janata Party emerge as the world’s largest political party. Veteran karyakartas Jatinder Chopra, Deshraj Tandon, and Purushottam Mahajan were felicitated on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Ravinder Raina highlighted the glorious history of the BJP, stating that the party was founded on April 6, 1980, and has consistently followed the principles of nationalism, good governance, and Antyodaya. He emphasized that the journey from Bharatiya Jana Sangh to the present day has been powered by the tireless efforts and sacrifices of countless karyakartas. He further stated that today, BJP is not only a dominant force in India but also a strong symbol of democratic values globally. He urged all karyakartas to continue working with dedication to further strengthen the organization.
State President Jitender Pal Malhotra also addressed the gathering, elaborating on the party’s ideology and history. He motivated the karyakartas to continue their hard work and contribute towards taking the party to greater heights.
After the program, Ravinder Raina and State President Jitender Pal Malhotra visited the residence of senior karyakarta Jatinder Chopra, honored him, and installed the BJP flag at his residence. Thereafter, Foundation Day programs including flag hoisting were organized in Faida village (Mandal No. 21), Kazehri village (Mandal No. 31), and Maloya (Mandal No. 28).


Notably, the Foundation Day celebrations were not limited to the state office but were conducted across all 35 mandals of Chandigarh down to the booth level. Party office bearers visited karyakartas’ homes and installed BJP flags, reinforcing grassroots connectivity and organizational strength.
The enthusiastic participation of a large number of karyakartas reflects the growing strength and विस्तार of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
