Chandigarh, March 17, 2026,  Roller Skating Federation of India has formally proposed Chandigarh as the host city for the prestigious 21st Asian Roller Skating Championship scheduled for November 2027. The proposal has been submitted to the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh for seeking support and necessary assistance to host the continental event.

The initiative has been strongly backed by Sanjay Tandon, Chairman of the Sports Advisory Committee, UT Chandigarh, along with Arun Walia, President, Chandigarh Roller Skating Association who met the Governor on Tuesday.

According to RSFI, Chandigarh has already been finalized as the host city, subject to infrastructure augmentation in line with international standards prescribed by World Skate Asia. A recent visit by a four-member delegation from World Skate Asia assessed the city’s existing facilities and acknowledged their potential while recommending upgrades to meet global benchmarks.

The championship is expected to attract top athletes, officials and delegates from across Asia, making it a landmark event for the region. Hosting such a prestigious tournament will not only elevate Chandigarh’s profile on the international sports map but also significantly promote youth participation, tourism and economic activity.

To ensure seamless execution, RSFI has sought comprehensive support from the UT Administration, including development of world-class skating infrastructure, coordination with local authorities, security arrangements, accommodation and medical services. A dedicated Roller Skating Park has also been proposed which could serve as a long-term legacy project for the city.
