PGIMER Chandigarh Transport Department Organizes Successful Blood Donation Camp

71 units of blood donated, 23 pledge for organ donation

The Transport Department of PGIMER Chandigarh, in collaboration with the PGIMER Driver Welfare Association, organized a highly successful Blood Donation Camp. The event witnessed the collection of 71 units of blood, marking a significant contribution to the region’s blood reserves.
Dr. Vivek Lal, Director of PGIMER, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the Blood Donation Camp. He was joined by esteemed dignitaries, including Mr. Pankaj Rai, Deputy Director Administration of PGIMER; Prof. Ashok Kumar, Additional Medical Superintendent; Dr. Navneet Dhaliwal, Addl Prof. Dept of Hospital Administration; and Mr. N.K. Prarthi, Technical Officer of the Transport Section at PGIMER.
Dr. Vivek Lal, Director PGIMER praised the efforts of the organizing committee, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives. “The dedication shown by the PGIMER Driver Welfare Association in organizing this Blood Donation Camp is commendable. Blood donation is a noble gesture that can save countless lives, and I am proud to see such enthusiasm and participation from our community.”
Mr. Pankaj Rai DDA PGIMER expressed his appreciation for the donors and organizers, stating, “The success of today’s camp is a testament to the spirit of service that defines PGIMER. Each unit of blood donated today will go a long way in providing critical support to those in need. I encourage everyone to continue supporting such vital causes.”
Dr. Ashok Kumar highlighted the medical significance of blood donation, saying, “Regular blood donation is crucial for maintaining adequate blood supply in our hospitals. The participation we saw today ensures that PGIMER can continue to provide the best possible care to patients. I thank all the donors for their generous contributions.”
Mr. N.K. Prarthi added, “The coordination and hard work put in by the PGIMER Driver Welfare Association is truly admirable. Their commitment to social causes like this sets a powerful example for others to follow.”
In conjunction with the Blood Donation Camp, ROTTO (Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization) also organized a camp to promote organ donation. The initiative saw 23 individuals pledging to donate their organs, furthering the cause of saving lives through organ transplantation.
The dignitaries lauded the dual efforts of organizing both blood and organ donation camps. The seamless collaboration between the Transport Department and ROTTO exemplifies the holistic approach PGIMER takes towards healthcare and community service.
