Incident Report: Fire at PGIMER
On November 21, 2023, at approximately 1:43 pm, the Chandigarh Fire Service received a distress call through emergency number 112 reporting a fire outbreak in the forest area, characterized by grass and sarkanda, situated behind the laundry plant at PGIMER. Immediate action was taken, prompting the dispatch of fire tenders from both PGIMER and Chandigarh Fire Service to the designated location.
The fire and security personnel of PGIMER and Chandigarh Fire Service promptly initiated measures to control and contain the fire. A total of four fire tenders were engaged in the operation, with three originating from Chandigarh Fire Service and one from PGIMER.
The collaborative efforts of the firefighting teams led to the successful containment and extinguishing of the fire. The operation concluded at 3:30 pm, and subsequent cooling measures were implemented to ensure no re-ignition. There were no reported damages to the institute’s property.
Further investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the fire.
