World Health Day Celebration 2023

Theme: Health for All
World Health Day is celebrated on 7th April every year globally. The theme for this year is “Health for All” (HFA). This year is also observed as the 75th Anniversary of World Health Organization, completing 75 years of improving public health around the globe.
On this occasion Indian Public Health Association (IPHA), PGIMER, Chandigarh Branch in collaboration with National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE), PGIMER, Chandigarh celebrated the occasion by organizing a panel discussion on “Health for All” today.
The celebration started with lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana. The occasion was graced by Dr. Suman Singh, DHS, Chandigarh and Prof. Rakesh Sehgal, Dean (Academic), PGIMER, Chandigarh.
Dr. J. S. Thakur introduced the theme for the World Health Day and objectives and scope of IPHA. Dr. Jaideep Arya discussed the issues of poor literacy and poor doctor-patient ratio along with the need of sustainable health systems. Prof. Rakesh Sehgal focused on poor lifestyle leading to poor health and the need to improve it. Dr. Suman Singh shared the efforts of the UT to develop intersectoral collaborations for improvement of health.
After the opening ceremony, panel discussion on “Health for All” was observed. The panellists included- : Dr. Shankar Prinja (Professor, Department of Community Medicine and School of Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh), Dr. Kavita (Associate Professor, NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh and Secretary, IPHA Local Branch), Dr. Jaideep Arya (Chairman of Haryana Yog Aayog), Dr. Charu Singla (Nodal Officer, National Health Mission, Chandigarh), Dr. Shubh Mohan (Additional Professor, Department of Psychiatry, PGIMER, Chandigarh), Dr. Sushma K Saini (Associate Professor, NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh), Dr. Akshay Anand (Professor, Department of Neurology, PGIMER, Chandigarh); moderated by Dr. J. S. Thakur (Professor, Department of Community Medicine and School of Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh and Vice President, IPHA, PGIMER Branch, Chandigarh).
Dr. Prinja made comments on how can we realize the goal of Universal Health Coverage in Indian context. Dr. Kavita highlighted the key issues in achieving HFA. Dr. Arya highlighted the role of yoga and Naturopathy in HFA. Dr. Charu highlighted the efforts of UT Chandigarh for achieving HFA goals. Dr. Shubh Mohan emphasised how we achieve HFA related to Mental Health. Dr. Sushma Saini discussed the role of nurses in achieving HFA goal. Dr. Akshay Anand talked about role of Yoga to Swasth Bharat with integrated medicine along with the issues and challenges Health for All. Questions from the audience were addressed by the experts.
The celebration included mobility breaks and laughter yoga. The celebration concluded with the General Body Meeting of IPHA.
