Functioning of National Commission for Schedule Castes discussed by PU Law Dept.
The Department of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized online special lecture by Shri Vijay Sampla, Chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Castes on the theme The functioning of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes.
Shri Sampla made students aware of the functioning of the Commission and pointed out that caste practices are still prevalent in different forms in the different regions of the country since the 74 years of Independence. He also discussed the issues and challenges addressed by the National Commission in order to redress the problems faced by the members of the Scheduled Castes.
Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Panjab University made the presidential remarks on the theme.
The Chairperson, Prof. Devinder Singh hosted the event.
The event was joined by more than 300 students, research scholars and faculty members of Panjab University.
