The Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health at PGIMERChandigarh organized a pre-conference CME Workshop on Health Econometrics on 10th March 2021 under theauspices of 48th Annual National Conference of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSMCON2021).The CME wasorganized by Dr Tanvi Kiran, Assistant Professor of Health Economics and Dr Kapil Goel, Assistant Professor of Epidemiology, both faculty from the prestigious Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh.The CME Workshop was honoured by the presence of an eminent personality Dr Suresh Sharma, Professor in the Department of Statistics, Punjab University, Chandigarh as an expert speaker. More than 85delegates including academicians, students and Public Health professional participated in the workshop from the various part of the country.
The CME Workshop commenced with the opening remarks by Dr Amarjeet Singh, Professor& Head, Department of Community Medicine & School of Public Health, PGIMER. Followed by this, Dr Suresh Sharma Delivered an expertlecture in which he explained different types of Data and concept of correlational/associational statistics. Dr Kapil Goel gave an introduction to the Field of Health Econometrics and elucidated the usage of various statistical tests in the context of Health Econometrics.Followed by Dr Tanvi Kiranwho delivered a session on Regression analysis, which is the quintessence of Health Econometrics. Each Session in the CME workshop were followed by question-and-answer session, and hands on exercises using advanced statistical software which attracted special emphasis from the delegates. The whole event was hosted by Dr Arunima Sen. The CME workshop came to an end with the closing remarks by Dr Arun Aggarwal, Professor, Department of Community Medicine & School of Public Health followed by the vote of thanks by Dr Tanvi Kiran and Dr. Kapil Goel.
