LIGHT TO LIGHTEN OTHERS- ENACTUS PU CELEBRATES DIWALI WITH SPECIALLY ABLED AT SAMARTH

Chandigarh,sunita shastri:The Enactus team of Dr. SSBUICET, Panjab University celebrated Diwali with the members of Samarth, a residential house for specially abled children in Sector-15, Chandigarh in order to spread smiles in the festive season and to make it a memorable one for them, said Professor Seema Kapoor, the faculty advisor of Enactus team.The Covid-19 pandemic couldn’t hinder the team’s zeal of spending the Diwali time with the Godly children at Samarth, averred Prof. Kapoor. Spreading light into their lives, the team celebrated Diwali by gifting these children with diyas and sweets. According to Tanishq Munjal and Harmeet singh- the logistics heads of Enactus, the feeling of helping these children is really out of this world.The diyas gifted to Samarth were made by the potter community of Maloya under the project Dhra, said Shubham Jindal, President of Enactus team. Even during the pandemic, the project was in full swing helping the potters to maintain their economic stability.The staff of Samarth was also provided with face masks and face shields thus ensuring that all the Covid-19 protocols were followed properly. The masks were donated by the Versatile Enterprises Pvt. Limited, Group of Companies, who are leading Manufacturers of Technical & Innovative fabrics informed Akshat Kaushik, Vice President of Enactus team. Appreciating the efforts of the team, the General Secretary of Samarth Ms. Puja Ghai said that not many take the effort to go an extra mile for helping others. She was grateful to the team for making efforts to help the special children of Samarth especially during such testing times. She also informed that utmost care is being taken during COVID-19 pandemic for these specially abled children and no outsider is allowed inside the premises. The permanent staff will celebrate Diwali by lighting Diyas and distributing eatables among these children.At Enactus we believe in becoming a light to lighten others- said Vice President Amandeep Singh.The team has held many distribution and fund raising drives in the past and will continue to do so in the future as well.The Enactus team of Panjab university has always been making the university proud by helping underprivileged sections of the society and bringing laurels at various National & International competitions, said Professor S.K.Tomar, Dean Students Welfare and Professor Sukhbir Kaur, Dean Students Welfare (Women). Honourable Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, Professor Raj Kumar acknowledged the laudable work of the Enactus team and encouraged the team to continue the good work.
