E-consent to be issued by Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee – Step Towards Transparency in Governance.

Sh.V.P.Singh Badnore, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & the Administrator, UT Chandigarh launched the `E-CONSENT SERVICE’ through Online System by Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee to the Industries/Units. During the function held at Raj Bhawan, Punjab, Shri V.P. Singh Badnore, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & the Administrator, UT Chandigarh, said that the role of Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee is very important to regulate the pollution of this city beautiful. At the same time for proper growth of industries, fast disposal of their applications for Consent to Establish/Operate is also equally important. This is a big stride towards Transparency in Governance and fast delivery of services to the citizens.

The e-consent to the public will be issued which will not only substantially reduce the normal processing time of application but also spare the officers to divert their energy for other productive works. Shri Debendra Dalai, IFS, Member Secretary, Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee has informed that normally physical copy of the Consent is issued after approval of the Competent Authority. This process consume substantial time of the employees, as a result many important areas remain unattended. Now, the e-consent will be generated and issued to the units automatically on the approval of Competent Authority. The step has been taken to enhance the efficiency of office taking advantage of the technology available. Besides Transparency in Governance, the system will also help in creating a positive eco-system in carrying out the industrial activities in U.T., Chandigarh. Applicants need not to come to the office now and they can apply from anywhere and after the approval, they can get the Consent Order in the portal which can be downloaded anytime from anywhere. It will be beneficial for all the industries as well as DG Set owners.
