The Wisdom Nest’ Launched, Taking Punjabi Children’s Literature to English Readers

Chandigarh: The English translation of The Wisdom Nest, a collection of children’s stories originally written in Punjabi, was formally launched at Sector 38, Chandigarh, under the joint aegis of Sangeeta Sahitya Sangam and Vishav Punjabi Parchar Sabha.
Authored by Prin. Bahadur Singh Gosal and translated into English by noted writer Dr. Sangeeta Sharma Kundra ‘Geet’, the book aims to introduce the richness of Punjabi children’s literature to a wider, global readership.
Renowned litterateur Prem Vij was the chief guest, while Shams Tabrezi presided over the function. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vinod Kumar Sharma highlighted the importance of children’s literature in shaping personality, values, imagination and character. He said that books like The Wisdom Nest combine engaging storytelling with knowledge and moral values.
Prem Vij appreciated the initiative of translating quality Punjabi children’s literature into English, while Dr. Sangeeta Sharma Kundra ‘Geet’ said the translation was an effort to connect Punjabi literary heritage with the younger generation and English-speaking readers.
The original author, Prin. Bahadur Singh Gosal, expressed confidence that the English edition would expand the reach of the stories. Shams Tabrezi praised the translator for preserving the essence and emotions of the original work.
Baburam Diwana, Dhian Singh, Jagtar Singh ‘Jog’, Sarabjit Singh Puda, Rajesh Kumar, Ashwini Kundra, Balwinder Singh and Baby Kimaya were also present and honoured. The participants shared their views on the book and presented their literary compositions.
