The 14th meeting of the Governing Body was held under the Chairmanship of W/Adviser to the Administrator-cum-Home Secretary, U.T., Chandigarh today on 09.11.2023, the following major discussions were held and finalized during the meeting: –
1. The Financial progress of CTU/CCBSS was discussed and it was apprised to the Governing Body that there is increase in the revenue of CTU and CCBSS. So far as CCBSS is concerned, there is increase of revenue of Rs.18.08 Crore in the financial year 2022-23 as compared to 2021-22 & there is an increase of Rs.3.14 Crores in the Current financial year 2023-24 as compared to 2022-23. With regard to CTU, there is an increase of Rs.35.89 Crore in the financial year 2022-23 as compared to the year 2021-22 and there is increase of Rs.8.93 Crore in the financial year 2023-24 as compared to the previous financial year 2022-23 despite condemnation of 20 buses.
2. The Governing Body also took the decision regarding to implement new parking and shuttle bus services to improve traffic congestion and visitor experience. In this regard, the following decisions were taken:-

a) The CCBSS Governing Body has directed the Architect Department, in consultation with the Engineering Department and Chandigarh Traffic Police, to develop a comprehensive plan for parking buses at designated locations near popular tourist attractions such as the lake, Bird park, and rock garden, as well as the High Court.

b) The Engineering Department will be responsible for marking parking spaces and erecting signboards to guide visitors. The CCBSS will also undertake a public awareness campaign to inform residents and tourists about the new parking arrangements.

c) In addition to improved parking facilities, the CCBSS has also decided to introduce shuttle bus services to connect these attractions and the surrounding areas. CTU/CCBSS buses will operate at a frequency of 5 minutes, and the minimum fare for a round trip (up and down) will be fixed at Rs. 10/-.

d) The shuttle bus service will run on weekends and holidays on a trial basis. The CCBSS will collect feedback from the public and make adjustments to the service as needed.

e) These initiatives are part of the CCBSS’s ongoing efforts to improve traffic management and enhance the visitor experience in Chandigarh.
3. The Governing Body also decided that Chandigarh is to Implement Delhi Pattern Bus Queue Shelters for Enhanced Passenger Experience as under:-

1. Chandigarh, India – November 9, 2023 – In a significant decision aimed at improving the commuting experience for bus passengers, the Governing Body of Chandigarh has resolved to implement Delhi Pattern Bus Queue Shelters across the city. These shelters will be designed with a focus on passenger convenience, safety, and information accessibility.
Key features of the Bus Queue Shelters include:
➢ Installation of CCTV cameras for enhanced security
➢ Static route maps to guide passengers
➢ Mobile charging points for convenience
➢ Dustbins to maintain cleanliness
➢ Solar panels wherever possible to promote sustainability
➢ Architecturally designed artifacts to enhance the aesthetic appeal
➢ PIS boards for real-time bus information
➢ SOS contact numbers for emergencies
➢ Physically handicapped-enabled features for accessibility
➢ Installation of advertisement boards for promoting government schemes

The implementation of these modern and passenger-friendly bus queue shelters will significantly enhance the commuting experience for residents of Chandigarh.
4. Further, it was apprised to the Governing Body that the proposal for the hiring of 100 e-buses (12 mtrs) as replacement of 100 TATA diesel buses of depot -IV of CCBSS has been already been sent to the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India under PM-eBus Sewa Scheme.
