Saraswati Puja Celebration at PGIMER Marks a Day of Knowledge and Traditions Chandigarh, February 14, 2024 – The highly anticipated Saraswati Puja celebration at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, took place today amidst great enthusiasm and fervor. The 58th Saraswati Puja was celebrated on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami at the Zakir Hall, Research Block A, PGIMER. The event saw the active participation of faculty members, staff members, and students, who gathered to seek the blessings of Goddess Saraswati, the deity symbolizing knowledge and wisdom as per Hindu mythology. Dr. Radhika S, President, Saraswati Puja celebration committee, shared her insights on the importance of the occasion. She emphasized that Basant Panchami is a festival of Hindus that marks the beginning of the spring season and holds immense significance as a symbol of renewal and freshness. Honorable Director Professor Vivek Lal, along with the staff, students and faculty members, joined in paying homage to Goddess Saraswati. Their presence emphasized the significance of preserving and honoring the cultural heritage and traditions of India. The celebrations included traditional Puja, rituals and prayers, with attendees seeking the blessings of Maa Saraswati for a prosperous and knowledgeable year ahead. Various offerings were made, including fruits which were distributed amongst attendees as Prasad (blessed food). The Saraswati Puja celebration committee of PGIMER, Chandigarh, aims to foster a sense of harmony, cultural appreciation, and camaraderie among the staff members, students, and faculty.
