Excise Department Takes Swift Action Against Illegal Activities at Bottling Plant
Chandigarh,1st March,2024.On February 7, 2024, the Excise Department conducted a thorough inspection at the bottling plant, M/s Zannat Beverages Private Limited, located in Industrial Area, Phase-I, Chandigarh. During the inspection, discrepancies concerning the stock of Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA), commonly known as Spirit, were identified.
In response, the Excise Department swiftly initiated necessary legal proceedings against the licensee before the court of competent authority, in accordance with the Excise Act/Rules. Additionally, based on the department’s recommendation, Chandigarh Police has initiated criminal proceedings and registered (FIR) to investigate the involvement of both the bottling plant and transporters in the illegal flow of liquor.
The Excise Department reiterates its steadfast commitment to taking stringent action against any individual or establishment found engaged in such illegal activities. These actions not only harm the society but also have detrimental effects on the State Exchequer.
