Bureau of Indian Standards Northern Regional Office Showcases Pioneering Achievements in a Riveting Press Conference
Chandigarh, January 5, 2024 –
The Bureau of Indian Standards Northern Regional Office hosted a press conference today, uncovering a portrait of remarkable achievements, celebrating its foundation day, and shedding light on significant milestones achieved over 77 years.
Media representatives from renowned outlets, including Press Information Bureau (PIB), gathered at the Manak Bhawan, Chandigarh, to witness a compelling session led by Mr. Rajiv. P, Deputy Director General BIS (North), Saurabh Tiwari, Scientist-E/ Director & Head of Haryana Branch Office and Mr. Deepak Agarwal Scientist-F/ Director & Head of Chandigarh Branch Office.
Mr. Rajiv P shed light on the activities of BIS with emphasis on major verticals like Standardization, Certification and Laboratory Activity. He shared that apart from these activities, BIS has been actively engaged in promotional activities. He shared that BIS has taken an initiative to reach out to every section of the society may it be Industry, Common Consumers, School Students, Government Functionaries.
Mr. Saurabh Tiwari, Head of Haryana Branch Office, shared that more than 2700 Gram Panchayat Pradhan were sensitized on availability of Indian Standards in products used in development works.
Mr. Deepak Aggarwal shared that Chandigarh Branch Office has granted All India First Licenses to various Industries in Punjab thus ensuring quality and safety of those products.
Media-Persons from various media houses asked the questions regarding hallmarking, complaints on quality, misuse of ISI mark, etc. which were suitably answered by the authorities.
Media persons were also invited to join celebration of 77th Foundation Day of BIS which will be held at NITTTR, Sector 26, Chandigarh on 06.01.2024.
The press conference concluded with the vote of thanks from Mr. Nikhil Chandratre from BIS.
