[Gurgaon, 12th Feb 2024] – Artemis Hospitals joins the global community in observing International Epilepsy Day, an initiative aimed at raising awareness about epilepsy, a neurological condition affecting millions worldwide. Epilepsy is a disorder of the brain characterized by recurrent seizures, which can vary from brief lapses in attention to severe and prolonged convulsions. Despite its prevalence, there are still misconceptions and stigma surrounding epilepsy, leading to discrimination and barriers to proper care and support for those living with the condition.

In observance of International Epilepsy Day, Artemis Hospitals is committed for increasing awareness and understanding of epilepsy within our community. Through educational initiatives, outreach programs, and expert consultations, we aim to dispel myths, reduce stigma, and empower individuals with epilepsy to lead fulfilling lives. The witnessed the presence of Dr. Sumit Singh, Chief – Neurology, Dr. Manish Mahajan, Sr. Consultant – Neurology & Head – Neuroimmunology, Dr. Vivek Barun, Consultant Neurology & Epilepsy, Dr. Mohit Anand, Associate Consultant Neurology & Dr. Archana Sharma, Associate Consultant Neurology.

Dr. Sumit Singh, Chief – Neurology at Artemis Hospitals, emphasizes, “Epilepsy is a manageable condition with the right medical care and support. Early diagnosis, proper treatment, and a supportive environment can significantly improve the quality of life for individuals living with epilepsy. Proper treatment, which may include medication, lifestyle modifications, and in some cases, surgical interventions, plays a pivotal role in controlling seizures and reducing their frequency and severity.”

Moreover, creating a supportive environment is essential for individuals with epilepsy to thrive. This involves raising awareness and understanding of the condition among family members, friends, educators, employers, and the broader community. By fostering a culture of acceptance and inclusivity, we can help individuals with epilepsy feel empowered and supported in their daily lives.

According to Dr. Vivek Barun, Consultant, Neurology & Epilepsy “Every individual living with epilepsy deserves access to compassionate care, understanding, and the latest treatment options. Together, let’s stand united in our commitment to breaking down barriers and ensuring that no one faces epilepsy alone.”

As part of our commitment to epilepsy awareness, Artemis Hospitals encourages everyone to educate themselves about epilepsy, support those affected by the condition, and advocate for inclusive policies that promote equal opportunities for individuals with epilepsy.
