The week-long celebration of International Nurses Week 2023 was concluded today at the NINE, PGIMER

The week-long celebration of International Nurses Week 2023 was concluded today at the National Institute of Nursing Education, PGIMER, Chandigarh. The program began on 12.5.23 with the Inauguration ceremony and symposium on Geriatric Nursing. Professor Vivek Lal, Director PGIMER graced the occasion as the Chief guest. Around 200 participants attended the inaugural function. The chief guest highlighted that the nurses are not only the future but the present as well. He highlighted that nurses are the pillars and backbone of health care system and we cannot think of good medical care without the competent and compassionate nurses. On 13th May, a quiz was organized on the basics of nursing. A walkathon was organized on Sunday, 14th May from NINE to Sukhna Lake, in which around 100 students and faculty participated. The walkathon ended at Sukhna Lake with a role play on Noncommunicable disease prevention. On 15th May, Health Education and Role play were organized in all the wards and OPD areas of PGIMER to educate patients and caregivers regarding various health issues. On the next day, a Health mela was organized in Dhanas and Daddu Majra colony to enlighten the community about noncommunicable disease prevention. On May 17th, there was a continuing nursing education activity on the theme- OUR NURSES. OUR FUTURE. The valedictory function was organized on 18th May to conclude the celebrations. Dr. Sukhpal Kaur, Principal, NINE cum President, TNAI (UT Branch, Chandigarh) welcomed the Dignitaries. The Chief Guest of the event was Prof. Vipin Kaushal, Head, Dept. of Hospital Administration and Medical Superintendent, Nehru Hospital, PGIMER, Chandigarh. Dr Avinash Kaur Rana, former faculty NINE, and Principal, Indo American College of Nursing, Moga, was the Guest of Honor. Dr Sunita Sharma, Faculty NINE and Secretary, TNAI, UT branch, Chandigarh gave glimpses of various activities of the week-long celebration. All the students and faculty who won prizes in various activities were felicitated by the Chief Guest and Guest of honor. Prof. Vipin Kaushal encouraged the nursing officers and students to work compassionately with the patients and to strive towards achieving academic excellence. The Guest of honor shared her nursing journey with the participants and encouraged them to face the challenges of life with zeal. Mrs. Jaspal Kaur, Chief Nursing Officer, Nehru Hospital, PGIMER, Chandigarh, along with Senior Nursing Officials from PGIMER also graced the function. Various cultural activities were performed by the students and faculty of NINE and GMCH 32 to commemorate the occasion. The program was concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Shruti, Associate Professor, NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh.
