Prof. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER on 20th April 2021 inaugurated Two High End 800mA state-of-the-art Digital Radiography Systems in the Department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging.
One of these machines is installed in the critical Emergency services area of Nehru Hospital and the second machine has been installed in the Main Department of Radiodiagnosis in Nehru Hospital, stated Prof. Dr. M.S.Sandhu, Head, Deptt. of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging at PGI. He said this is one of the biggest and best equipped Radiodiagnosis Department in the country.
Both these machines are fully digital and capable of handling a large volume of work load, and the acquired digital and high quality images can be sent to distant locations through PACS which is very beneficial for the treatment and management of patients. These new machines are fully motorized and remote controlled.
In these machines, the acquisition time is significantly less which helps in accommodating more number of patients in a stipulated period of time. Another advantage of these 2 new machines is the capability of doing stitch X-rays of long body parts like whole spine and lower limbs which are very important for orthopaedics and spine surgery stated Prof. Paramjeet Singh.
The installation of these 2 High End X-ray machines at this critical juncture of the covid surge, will also greatly help in the correct and timely diagnosis and treatment of covid patients as more X-ray machines will now be available for the exclusive use of the covid patients and to help tackle the Covid surge said Prof. Sandhu.
