Chandigarh, In a unique blend of sport and social commitment, the Journalist Welfare Trust in association with the United Press Club is hosting the Journalist Premier League from April 10 to May 3, 2026 across Chandigarh and Panchkula.
Beyond the excitement of cricket, the core objective of the league is deeply meaningful which is to felicitate and support the families of journalists who lost their lives in the line of duty. The initiative aims to recognise their sacrifice and ensure that their contributions to democracy and truth-telling are remembered and respected.
The tournament will feature eight teams representing Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh and Rajasthan which symbolises unity within the media fraternity across North India. Matches will begin on April 10 at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium, Chandigarh, with Punjab taking on Jammu & Kashmir.
The league stage will continue till April 18 followed by semi-finals on April 25 and 26 at Tau Devl Lal Stadium, Panchkula. The grand finale is scheduled for May 3, 2026 also in Panchkula. Each match will be played in the evening, creating an engaging atmosphere for both media professionals and the public.
