BSF WESTERN COMMAND CONDUCTS PLANTATION DRIVE ON WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

The Border Security Force, Western Command, observed ‘World Environment Day’ on 05 June 2026, with a large scale plantation drive, underscoring the force’s unwavering commitment to environment stewardship and sustainable living.   
Shri Satish S Khandare, IPS, ADG, Border Security Force Western Command formally launched the drive by planting a sapling. The event saw active participation from Officers, troops and civilians reflecting the Force commitment to environment conservation.
Saplings of native plants including Neem, Peepal, Ashoka and fruits trees were planted at BSF Campus, Lakhnaur. Speaking on the occasion, the ADG Western Command emphasized the responsibility of every citizen and uniformed personnel to protect the environment, and reaffirmed BSF’s pledge towards a greener and sustainable India. The saplings are being planted every year by BSF in such campaigns during World Environment Day and monsoon season to ensure greater survivability.
This pan BSF mega plantation campaign was organized at all Frontiers up to BOP level from Kashmir to Gujarat, in which kith and kin of the troops were also participated with zest and fervor. Deserts, creeks and denuded patches are the areas of focus for this mega plantation drive in order to help combat environmental issues like desertification, soil erosion, etc. During this plantation drive more than 65000 saplings have been planted in entire western border.
ADG (Western Command) also emphasized that BSF has always been committed towards its social responsibilities along with its primary objective of defending the borders of the nation.
