Bhagmender’s knock helps Terrace Zone to register six wicket win over Sukhna Zone

Rose Zone dominates Plaza Zone in a one sided affair

Chandigarh: A timely half century by unbeaten Bhagmender Lather guided Terrace Zone to register a six-wicket win over Sukhna Zone in the third match of the UTCA Men’s Senior Multi-Day Cricket Tournament being played at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. In reply to Sukhna Zone’s first innings of 338/8, Terrace Zone was bundled out for 371. Sukhna Zone declared their inning at 241/6 and posed a target of 208 to opposition on the third day of the match. Piyush Sharma (62) and Pradeep Yadav (56) scored half-centuries while unbeaten Vikas contributed 47 runs. The match which was heading for draw in the final session was enlivened by the blistering knock of Bhagmander Lather who made 71 with the help of three sixes and five boundaries. He was well supported by the quickfire knock of Taranpreet Singh who added 36 runs with five boundaries.  Nikhil Thakur added 43 runs.

Meanwhile, Rose Zone defeated Plaza Zone by ten wickets in a one-sided match played at GMSS School, Sector 26,. In reply to Rose Zone’s first innings total of 441/9, Plaza Zone could only manage 210 and 256 runs in their first and second innings respectively. Plaza Zone could only add 109 runs to their overnight score of 147/4 on the third day. Unbeaten Akash Sudan scored 56 and Krunal Mahajan contributed 48 runs. Vishu Kashyap (5/69) took the maximum five wickets for Rose Zone. In reply, Rose surpassed the given target of 25 runs in the fifth over with the help of Ankit Choudhary (21) without losing a wicket.
