BBMB to setup 40 MW Baggi Power House – Signed MoU with Himachal Pradesh Government

Chandigarh: Bhakra Beas Management Board has entered into an MoU with the
Government of Himachal Pradesh for setting up of 40 MW Baggi Power House
during Global Investors’ Meet at Dharamshala on 8 th Nov’19.The MoU was signed in
the presence of Sh D.K. Sharma, Chairman, BBMB by Sh Tarun Agarwal, Secretary
on behalf of BBMB and Ms. Manasi Sahay Thakur, Director, Deptt of Energy on
behalf of Govt of HP. Sh Prabodh Saxena, Principal Secretary, Power, Govt. of HP,
Sh. Aniruddha Kumar, Joint Secretary, Hydro, Govt. of India and Sh. Harminder
Singh Chug, Member, Power, BBMB were also present
Sh. D.K.Sharma said that 2×20 MW Baggi Power House shall be executed by BBMB
at the tail of Pandoh-Baggi Tunnel with an estimated cost of Rs 350 crore and
project completion period of 4 years. He further informed that this MOU is of utmost
importance and significance as it could be signed almost after 40 years of
completion of BSL project. The project has been assigned to BBMB by Ministry of
Power, Govt of India on 22 nd October, 2019 after concurrence of all the partner states
of BBMB . The power generated from the project shall be shared amongst partner
states as per MOP order dated 31.10.2011 after deducting free power to HP .The
MoU with Govt of HP shall facilitate BBMB for establishment of the aforementioned
project in the state of Himachal Pradesh and entitle BBMB for the
subsidies/incentives in accordance with applicable incentive Rules and policies of
the State Government.
Sh D.K. Sharma accompanied by Sh. Harminder Singh Chug, Member, Power and
Mr Tarun Aggarwal, Secretary, BBMB called on the Chief Minister, Himachal
Pradesh, Sh. Jai Ram Thakur after signing of MoU. The Chief Minister desired that
BBMB should complete the project in a time bound manner in 3 years which was
assured of by Chairman, BBMB.
