Voluntary Blood Donation Camp Organized by Indian Red Cross Society, UT Chandigarh in Collaboration with Blood Bank, GMCH-32

Chandigarh, 09 May 2025:
The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), UT Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Blood Bank of Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on 9th May 2025 at Plaza, Sector 17, Chandigarh. The initiative aimed to promote voluntary blood donation and support the region’s growing healthcare needs by ensuring a steady and safe blood supply.

The camp was inaugurated by Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh. In his address, the Administrator appreciated the commendable efforts of the Indian Red Cross Society and GMCH-32, and emphasized the significance of voluntary blood donation in strengthening the public health ecosystem. He hailed the donors as “silent heroes” whose selfless contributions save countless lives every day.

The camp witnessed an enthusiastic response from citizens, with more than
100 units of blood donated by individuals from various walks of life, Officials from the Estate Office, UT Chandigarh, also came forward to donate blood, reflecting a strong culture of service and civic responsibility within the government workforce.

In a heartening development, 50 new life members were also enrolled into the Indian Red Cross Society during the event, symbolizing a deepening public commitment to humanitarian service and community welfare. The organizers ensured thorough medical screening of donors, provided refreshments, and arranged post-donation care to ensure donor comfort and safety.

Shri Amandeep Singh Bhatti, PCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Red Cross Society Chandigarh and other officers of estate office were also present during the event.
