An Annual General Meeting of Governing Body of Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) was held today under the Chairmanship of Harjeet Singh Sandhu, Director Animal Husbandary and Fisheries, U.T. Chandigarh.
The meeting started with the confirmation of Minutes of last Meeting of Governing Body of SPCA held on 18.11.2022.
As, the Medical Officer of Health, MC Chandigarh has been given responsibility of Honorary General Secretary, SPCA in the re-constituted Governing Body of SPCA, therefore the new work flow was decided.
Several issues regarding the welfare of animals in the city, were discussed including renovation of existing conference room at SPCA building in Sector-38, fencing of dog shelter/ enclosure in the premises of SPCA and renovation of flooring along with changing water drainage pattern of the Gaushala of SPCA.
It was decided to involve more volunteers in the functioning of SPCA, so their terms and regulations of engagement including challaning powers, remuneration etc were also discussed in the meeting.
It was also decided in the meeting to write to the Engineering department to complete the pending repair and maintenance at the earliest.
It was also decided that more people should be sensitised to encourage them to think about animals’ needs, feelings and sufferings and also make people aware about the legal implications in case someone treats animals with cruelty.
