Artemis Hospitals Joins Global Efforts to Raise Awareness on World Encephalitis Day

Gurgaon 22nd Feb 2022 – Artemis Hospitals is pleased to announce its participation in the observance of World Encephalitis Day on February 22, 2023. The day is marked worldwide to raise awareness about the condition and its impact on individuals, families, and communities.
Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain, which can be caused by various factors such as infections, autoimmune disorders, or reactions to medications or vaccines. The condition can result in a range of symptoms, from mild flu-like symptoms to severe neurological problems such as seizures, confusion, or loss of consciousness. It can affect individuals of all ages and can lead to long-term disabilities, such as cognitive impairment, behavioral changes, or movement disorders.
According to Dr. Sumit Singh, Chief Neurology, Artemis Hospitals “World Encephalitis Day provides an opportunity for organizations, healthcare professionals, and individuals to come together to raise awareness about the condition, share information about prevention and treatment, and provide support to those affected by encephalitis. This year’s theme, “Faces of Encephalitis,” emphasizes the human aspect of the condition and the impact it has on individuals and their families.
As part of our efforts to raise awareness about encephalitis, Artemis Hospitals will be conducting various activities, including social media campaigns, educational webinars, and information sessions for healthcare professionals and the general public. We encourage everyone to join us in spreading the word about encephalitis and sharing information about how to prevent and manage the condition.
As per Dr. Saurabh Anand, Chief – Neuro anesthesia and Neuro Critical Care Artemis Hospitals “We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of individuals and organizations working to improve the lives of those affected by encephalitis. We also extend our support to individuals and families living with encephalitis and commend their strength and resilience in the face of this challenging condition.
According to Dr. Manish Mahajan, Sr. Consultant – Neurology & Head – Neuroimmunology, Artemis Hospitals “Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain, and 500,000 people are affected every year, regardless of age, sex, and ethnicity. The patient with encephalitis may lead to a permanent disability that is why it’s very important to diagnose this at an early stage so that proper treatment can be given to the patient in order to get the better outcome & save the life”.
