A.C. Joshi Library, Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with UGC-Human Resource Development Centre is organizing “from 01.02.2022 to 07.02.2022. The inaugural programme of 7-days Faculty Development Programme (FDP)” on the theme: “Information Sources & Services for Teaching, Learning and Research” was held today. Professor Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, the Chief Guest for the occasion underlined the significance of IT in every field of life. He said that the faculty should be updated with the new technology in digital sector so that they can further enlighten their students and finally the society. He also said that such type of programmes should be open for civil society, students and other professional so that maximum benefit can be reaped. He said that the topic of the F.D.P. is relevant in context of teaching and learning and is very useful for academicians from all disciplines like industries, defence etc. He stressed the need of learning as this paves way for better teaching Professor Raj Kumar, while inaugurating the programme, appreciated the efforts of A.C. Joshi Library for organizing this programme.
Dr. D.V. Singh, Professor-cum-University Librarian at SRM University, Sonepat, in his keynote address stressed on the need of objective knowledge and how the libraries should focus on improving the services being provided by them as without the services, the libraries will not be able to sustain. He also discussed five laws of Dr. Ranganathan and how the libraries need to bring the change keeping in mind the current generation of users.
Dr. D.K. Singh, Guest of Honour, presently working as University Librarian, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, emphasized the importance of library as an information resource centre, its culture and the motivation it provides to its users. He also elaborated how the technology is laying its impact on libraries and sees a whole lot of change coming for the libraries.
About 40 participants from different States of India like Manipur, Maharashtra, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab etc. have registered themselves for this programme. During these 7-days programme of F.D.P., about twenty resource persons from IITs, IISSER, IISc …. will share their ideas with the participants.
Dr. Jivesh Bansal, the Course coordinator and Chief Librarian (acting) welcomed the guests, resources persons and participants and briefed about the Faculty Development Programme.
Dr Neeru Bhatia, Deputy Librarian , Ms Richa and Mr Anil and other team members also attended the ceremony.
