State Level Quiz Competition on HIV/AIDS held

Chandigarh.10 November,2020:Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society conducted a State level quiz competition for students of Red Ribbon Clubs. 15 teams of different Colleges participated in this State Level Quiz Competition on HIV/AIDS.
Dr. Ravneet Kaur, Assistant Professor-cum-Blood Transfusion Officer, GMCH-32, Chandigarh was a special guest during the programme. She apprized the participants about the importance of Voluntary Blood Donation and how the importance and demand of Blood has increased during this COVID-19 pandemic. She also urged that not only we but our near and dear one should be encouraged for Voluntary Blood Donation so that the need of blood is fulfilled and no one dies due to shortage of Blood.
Dr. Vanita Gupta, Project Director, Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society informed that this Quiz Competition was organized for the students of RRCs to give them a platform to share their knowledge on HIV/AIDS as all the Colleges of Chandigarh have formed Red Ribbon Club who meet regularly and conduct activities for HIV/AIDS awareness in their respective colleges. She further informed that the winning team of this Quiz Competition will compete for Regional Level Quiz Competition representing Chandigarh and then will also participate in National level quiz competition which will be organized by National AIDS Control Organization, Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi in the month of December on the occasion of World AIDS Day which is observed on 1st of December every year.
In the Quiz Competition, questions related to Health Hygiene, Blood Donation, HIV/AIDS were asked.
The first cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- was awarded to a team from SD College, Sector 32.
The second cash prize of Rs. 8,000/- was awarded to a team from Central for Public Health, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The third cash prize of Rs. 6,000/- was awarded to a team from Nursing College PGIMER.
4 consolation prizes of Rs. 2,000/- each were awarded to Sri Guru Gobind Singh College Sector 26, PGGCG-11, MCM DAV Sector 36 and Brahmrishi Yoga College Sector 19 Chandigarh.
The winning team i.e. from SD College Sector 32 will now represent Chandigarh in the Regional Level Quiz Competition to be held soon.
