‘Gurugaman’ Bus service flagged off by Shri. Manohar Lal Khattar, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana

Gurugram, 2 September 2018 25 low floor ‘Gurugaman’ city buses were flagged off today in Gurugram by Shri. Manohar Lal Khattar, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana. The Gurugaman bus service has been rolled out by Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Ltd. (GMCBL) and will be in service today onwards as part of the phase-1 roll out. GMCBL will be rolling out a total of 200 such buses in various phases across the city.

These buses manufactured by Gurugram based JBM Auto Ltd. run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and are equipped with all modern features like Smart Card Ticketing system, Real Time Passenger Information System (PIS), Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS), Automatic Bus Vehicle Location System, CCTV cameras, public address system and stop request buttons, wheel chair ramp to name a few.

Real Time Passenger Information System shall keep the location of the bus updated for the passengers inside the bus and also at the Bus Queue Shelters (BQS). A toll free helpline number – 18001806627 has also been provisioned for the convenience of the passengers. Safety features such as CCTV cameras have been installed inside the bus that will aid in uninterrupted surveillance of activities inside the buses. Passengers can use the stop request button to alert the driver to stop the bus at the upcoming bus stop. The buses have 36 seats with provision of a wheel chair. The structural design of seats allows 20% more space for people standing in the bus as compared to other low floor buses. The passengers can also stand and move around at the rear of the bus, with no restriction from the roof.

Public transport system in Gurugram includes Delhi Metro, buses, taxis, auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws and cycle-rickshaws. The recent introduction of Rapid Metro line, a rail-based mass rapid transit system, has further boosted the public transit system within the city. As an initiative by the Government, 40 CNG buses have been introduced recently for intra-city movement and on Delhi-Gurugram route. About 100 private mini buses operate from Gurugram bus stand to various towns/villages in the vicinity such as Najafgarh, Bahadurpura, Maruti Udyog, IMT Manesar, Pataudi, etc. Six- seater auto rickshaws also operate on many routes within the city.

JBM CITYLIFE bus incorporates other utility features such as Vehicle Health Monitoring System, Fire Detection & Suppression System, Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS), etc. The buses also have features like independent front suspension, electronic braking system, CCTV cameras, public address system and kneeling mechanism, wherein the bus kneels 60mm towards the passengers’ door side to facilitate boarding and de-boarding of senior citizens, children and the specially-abled.
