PGIMER’s Tele Consultation Service increases its quantum to facilitate non_COVID Patients Registration Timings increased by an hour from earlier till 9.30 am to now till 10.30 am. Number of dedicated lines also enhanced .

Chandigarh : October 15 : PGIMER’s Tele-consultation, an initiative to serve the registered outdoor patients at the hospital that started on 19th May, has gone a step further to facilitate the patients by enhancing the number of dedicated lines as well as increasing the registration timings from earlier 8 am to 9.30 am to 8 am to 10.30 am with effect from tomorrow i.e. 16th October, 2020.

Detailing about the initiative Prof. Jagat Ram, Director PGIMER stated, “In the thick of COVID-19, we had suspended OPDs fearing transmission of the contagious virus to patients considering the huge footfall, at our OPDs. However, I am happy that our initiative of tele-consultation gained popularity over time and we took this step to broad-base the service to meet the consistently increasing demand and cater to the health needs of more of our non-COVID patients ensuring their safety with this initiative.”

“In fact, tele- consultation is a win –win situation for both the patients as well as PGIMER. The patients avoid the hassle of commuting from far off places to avail the specialised service of PGIMER by using this service. The institute will benefit greatly if more people use this service as it will result in reduced congestion in our OPD which is dire need of the hour, asserted Prof. Jagat Ram.

Prof. Ashok Kumar, Addl. Medical Superintendent & Official Spokesperson, PGIMER stated, “ It has been observed over time that more and more people are now using this service, the number of teleconsultation card made per day increased from approximately 500 to start with currently 1600 card per day, in fact a card is made at each counter every minute during the registration timing. So it was in the interest of all that we increase the quantum of this service to meet the growing demand.”

While detailing about the process, Prof. Ashok Kumar shared, “In order to seek tele-consultation services, patients will have to call the dedicated telephone numbers of the respective OPD centres between 8 am to 10.30 am for registration on the particular OPD days (Monday to Saturday, except OPD holidays) as per the existing OPD schedule (www.pgimer.edu.in) on the following lines.”Sr. No. Area Timings Tel.Number
