BCCI releases domestic calendar, Chandigarh to host 66 matches

Hosting will give a new dimension to city cricket, budding cricketers will get a chance to see outsiders  games: Sanjay Tandon

Chandigarh, The BCCI has released its calendar for its upcoming cricket season 2023-24. The domestic season of the BCCI will start with the Duleep Trophy on 28 June, 2023 and conclude on 16 March 2024 with Vizzy Trophy. UTCA has been given the hosting of a total of 66 matches for various tournaments. Chandigarh will host 15 league matches of the Men’s Under-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy from October 12 to October 20 wherein teams from Haryana, J&K, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, Assam and Bihar will encounter each other.

21 league matches of Men’s Under-23 will be held in Chandigarh from October 28 to November 9 as  the teams from Assam, Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Meghalaya, Railways and UP will be seen in action,

A total of 21 league matches will be played for the Men’s Senior Vijay Hazare Trophy from November 23 to December 5 in Chandigarh. Teams from Assam, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Rajasthan will be participating in the almost two week long affair. Apart from that UTCA will also host four matches of Ranji Trophy, three of Col CK Nayudu Trophy and two matches of Coach Behar Trophy.

UT Cricket Association’s President Sanjay Tandon expressed his happiness over hosting BCCI’s tournament in Chandigarh as he also conveyed his gratitude for living up to their expectation over the years. Chandigarh has hosted many prestigious tournaments in the past seasons. “Chandigarh has adequate cricket infrastructure as well as keen spectators. The budding cricketers of local academies get an opportunity to watch the game of the outsider players and boost their cricketing skills.
