Vigilance Cell, PGIMER, Chandigarh conducted a workshop on Public Interest Disclosure and Protection of Informers(PIDPI) Resolution

TheVigilance Cell, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research,Chandigarh conducted a workshop on Public Interest Disclosure and Protectionof Informers (PIDPI) Resolution 2004 on 11th October, 2023. The purposeof the workshop was to create awareness amongst the stakeholders about theimportance of protecting the identity of the complainant, who reports any kind ofpublic interest disclosures. Approximately 70-80 officials/Officers and FacultyMembers attended the workshop. In this workshop Sh. Ghanshyam Dass Sharma, HAS,Sr. Administrative Officer, briefed about the PIDPI resolution and its implementationin the institute.  He explained theprovisions of PIDPI resolution, the correct procedure of filing a PIDPIcomplaint and the common pitfalls/mistakes made while filing PIDPI complaints. “Thereis strong need for a transparent and accountable system in publicinstitutions, which can only be achieved if the employees are empowered toreport any kind of wrongdoing without fear of retaliation”, emphasised, Sh. GhanshyamDass Sharma.Asper policy of Government of India, no action is to be taken onanonymous/pseudonymous complaints. However, if a complainant wishes to file a complaint against anyGovernment Official about corruption and keep his identity confidential, thereis a provision of filing complaints under PIDPI Resolution.  Theabove workshop was conducted in compliance to the Central Vigilance Commission ordersfor preventive vigilance measures cum housekeeping activities to be taken up inthe 3 months campaign from 16th August2023 to 15th November, 2023 as a prelude to Vigilance Awareness Week2023.
