Chandigarh, Date: April 10, 2026: A significant political development unfolded in Chandigarh today when former Congress candidate from Ward No. 10 and Ward President Tarsem Mittal joined the Aam Aadmi Party. A large number of his supporters and workers also joined the party, strengthening the organization.
The joining program was conducted in the presence of senior leaders including Chandigarh in-charge Jarnail Singh, Observer Gurpreet Singh GP, Vineet Verma (Former Commissioner, Punjab State Traders Commission, Punjab Government), President Vijaypal Singh, Former President Prem Garg, Former Mayor Kuldeep Kumar, Yogesh Dhingra (Councillor), Hardeep Singh (Councillor & Leader of Opposition), General Secretary Sunny Aulakh, Jagpal Singh (Rural President), Sadab Rathi, Event In-Charge Lalit Mohan, Media In-Charge Vikrant A Tanwar, along with other senior leaders.
On this occasion, Tarsem Mittal said that he is highly impressed by the people-centric policies of the Aam Aadmi Party. He especially appreciated the work being done in Punjab and stated that—

Financial assistance of ₹1000–₹1500 for women,
Large-scale employment opportunities for youth
—such schemes are bringing real change in the lives of common people.
He further said that the policies of Arvind Kejriwal are based on transparency, honesty, and development. Inspired by these principles, he decided to join the Aam Aadmi Party today.
👉 In the same sequence, Ward No. 16 also brought major strength to the party, where around 60 to 70 people joined the Aam Aadmi Party under the leadership of Rawat Dinesh, Monu, Sunder, Sewak Singh Bedi, and Subhash Bedi, expressing their faith in the party’s policies.
Party leaders welcomed Tarsem Mittal and all the new members from Ward 16, stating that their joining will bring new energy and wider public support at the grassroots level. They expressed confidence that in the coming time, the Aam Aadmi Party will emerge even stronger in Chandigarh.
