Gurugram, 27 May: To further strengthen coordination between urban authorities and elected representatives, Chief Executive Officer, GMDA, P.C. Emphasising collaborative governance, the CEO stated that public representatives and GMDA officers would work together as a unified team for the development of Gurugram in the public interest. He invited councillors to share regular feedback, undertake joint field visits with officers in their respective wards and maintain close coordination for resolving key civic concerns on ground.

“GMDA is pursuing a comprehensive development roadmap for Gurugram with major investments in roads, mobility, drainage, green infrastructure and social amenities. Through closer collaboration with public representatives, we aim to ensure that developmental works are aligned with on-ground requirements and implemented with greater effectiveness and accountability,” said CEO GMDA.

The initiative taken by CEO GMDA to brief public representatives on the Authority’s developmental works was appreciated. GMDA’s efforts towards accelerating infrastructure development and improving civic amenities across Gurugram were also acknowledged.

Signal-free corridors, elevated roads, flyovers and underpasses planned along key city routes

Presenting GMDA’s infrastructure roadmap, CEO GMDA informed that 51 major road infrastructure projects amounting to approximately Rs 386 crore have been accorded administrative approval to strengthen connectivity and create a seamless road network in the city. Of these, 12 works have already been allotted, while 39 projects are currently under the process of allotment.

He further outlined GMDA’s plans to develop five elevated corridors and seven flyovers and underpasses across key mobility routes to create signal-free corridors and reduce travel time for commuters. Major projects in the pipeline include mobility interventions along the stretches of NH-48 to Vatika Chowk, Rajiv Chowk to Atul Kataria Chowk, Mahavir Chowk to IFFCO Chowk and Atul Kataria Chowk to Dwarka Expressway. In addition to mobility enhancement, special repair of master roads, development of service roads and green belt improvement works are also being undertaken by GMDA.

Monsoon preparedness, drainage strengthening and green infrastructure among key focus areas

The councillors were also briefed on various drainage strengthening and desilting works being undertaken across the city ahead of the monsoon season. Updates were shared on the ongoing works pertaining to the Construction of Leg-4 Drain, Narsinghpur Drain, Tau Devi Lal Stadium Drain, along with drainage infrastructure projects in Sectors 68–75, 76–80 and 112–115. GMDA officers informed that more than 200 manpower personnel have been deployed for intensive desilting operations across the city ahead of the monsoon season.

Addressing the issue raised by the public representatives of recurring waterlogging at critical locations, CEO GMDA proposed the development of 20–25 retention ponds across Gurugram as a long-term intervention for stormwater management.

Discussions were also held on green belt development, wherein CEO GMDA informed that large-scale efforts are underway to clear and reclaim green areas across the city. He added that several green belts are being lowered and redesigned into “green drains” to facilitate effective stormwater channelisation during the monsoon season.

GMDA officers further added that an intensive malba clearance drive is currently underway at multiple locations including Lotus Valley School Road, Gurugram University School Road, SPR, Subhash Chowk and Atul Kataria Chowk. To curb illegal dumping of construction and demolition waste, CCTV cameras will be installed at vulnerable locations and a dedicated portal will be developed to facilitate organised reuse of C&D material.

CEO GMDA also briefed the councillors on initiatives aimed at enhancing sports and social infrastructure in the city, including the upgradation of Tau Devi Lal Stadium, development of a sports belt along Sector 15 and establishment of a library cum amphitheater at Biodiversity Park, Sector 52A.
