Chandigarh, Former Indian spy Jaswinder Rana who have undertaken multiple sensitive intelligence missions in Pakistan in the national interest has appealed for immediate security protection, alleging continued threats to his life from hostile elements linked to Pakistan’s intelligence agency and terrorist networks.

Addressing a press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club, Jaswinder Rana said that despite risking his life on several covert assignments for the country, he is today compelled to live in fear and uncertainty within India since 2005. He alleged that he and his family continue to face serious security threats, including threatening phone calls allegedly originating from Pakistan.

According to Rana, the threats intensified after he successfully returned from a highly sensitive mission in Pakistan in the year 2005 while he was settled in Mumbai. He stated that due to security concerns, he was forced to leave Mumbai and relocate to different parts of the country in an effort to protect himself and his family. Currently, he is settled in Punjab Hoshiarpur since 2012.

Expressing concern over his safety, Rana revealed that one of his associates was murdered in Mumbai under suspicious circumstances in 2010. That incident has significantly heightened his apprehensions. He said the killing reinforced his belief that the threats against him are genuine and require immediate intervention by security agencies.

Rana further informed media persons that he has repeatedly approached various government authorities seeking protection. He made first communication from Govt in the year 2019 since than no concrete step has been taken in this regard. He said that while the Central Govt has already directed the concerned State Govt to assess his security requirements and take appropriate action, the process has allegedly been delayed, leaving him vulnerable.

“No citizen who has risked his life in service of the nation should be forced to live in fear within his own country,” Rana said during the interaction while showing his all credentials and related documents to media. He appealed to the Govt to conduct a comprehensive threat assessment and provide adequate security cover to him and his family.

He also sought support for secure rehabilitation and relocation, stating that the prolonged uncertainty has severely affected the lives of his family members. “We are unable to live a normal life and remain constantly worried about our safety. Every day is filled with uncertainty and fear,” he said.

The former operative expressed faith in the country’s leadership and security institutions, hoping that his appeal would receive urgent consideration and that necessary measures would be taken to safeguard his family and him from any potential harm.
