Chandigarh, March 21: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has sounded the bugle for an all-out war against the private power company ‘CPDL’ for turning the villages and colonies of Chandigarh into a ‘den of loot’. The party has made it clear that the economic exploitation of the public will not be tolerated at any cost.

“CPDL is picking the pockets of the poor; Double Billing must stop immediately” Jagpal Singh Jagga
Fiercely attacking the dictatorial functioning of the company, AAP’s Rural President Jagpal Singh Jagga termed it as ‘open robbery’. Issuing an open warning to the administration, Jagga said, “CPDL has snatched the morsel from the mouths of the poor public in villages and colonies by trapping them in a ‘double billing’ web. The company first forced them to pay bills by March 11 and has now issued a new deadline of March 30. How will a daily wager or a small shopkeeper pay hefty bills twice a month? This is a conspiracy to bankrupt the public just to fill their own coffers. If this draconian order of double billing is not rolled back immediately, the AAP Rural Wing will hold a massive ‘Chakka Jam’ and stage huge protests across Chandigarh.”

The fight will be fought from the streets to the House
Exposing the company’s malpractices, Councilor Jaswinder Kaur said that CPDL has crossed all limits of arbitrariness. She stated that consumers’ account numbers have been changed without any prior notice, bills are not arriving on time, no notification messages are being received on phones, and accurate meter readings are not being taken. She made it clear that the company is only misleading the innocent public and a fight against this high-handedness will be fought from the streets to the House.

Meanwhile, expressing the party’s aggressive stance, State Media In-charge Vikrant A. Tanwar issued a direct challenge to the administration and CPDL. He said, “The public is being looted in the name of hidden hikes in electricity rates and heavy penalties. Neither the company’s system is in order, nor is their intention. This era of extorting money by intimidating the public must end now. If this game of loot is not stopped immediately, the Aam Aadmi Party will stage massive protests across the city and bring the company to its knees.”
