PGI’s Prof. Pinaki Dutta Conferred FRCP (London) & PN Shah Oration
; His Student Dr Ashutosh Wins AR Seth Award at ESICON 2025
Prof. Pinaki Dutta,has been conferred the prestigious title of Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), London. This esteemed honour was awarded to Dr. Dutta in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of endocrinology and medical science. He received this hounour in the ceremony held in London in July 2025, attended by leading physicians and scholars from around the world.
In addition to this international accolade, Dr. Dutta was also honoured on the national stage at the ESICON 2025 (Annual Conference of the Endocrine Society of India), where he received the PN Shah Oration Award. Dr P N Shah has been the founding member of the Endocrine society of India and has been a leading insitituted researcher.
Dr PN Shah and Dr R J Dash (mentor of Prof. Dutta) worked with Nobel Laurate Rosalyn Yallow of USA to bring radioimmunoassay for hormones to India by 1966 much before she got the coveted award in 1977. During the oration, Dr. Dutta presented his pioneering work on multi-omics approaches in the management of pituitary tumours, highlighting cutting-edge genetic and proteomic technologies in translational research aimed at advancing precision medicine and improving patient outcomes.
Adding to the celebration, Dr. Dutta’s student, Dr. Ashutosh Rai, was conferred the distinguished A R Seth Award at the same conference. This award recognizes exceptional research by young scientists. Dr. Rai received this honour for his groundbreaking work on identifying biomarkers for recurrence prediction in pituitary tumours, a project conducted under the supervision and mentorship of Dr. Dutta. His research has the potential to significantly impact long-term monitoring and therapeutic decision-making in patients with pituitary adenomas.
