The Chandigarh Administration, in collaboration with the Modern Energy Cooking Services Programme (MECS) through their in-country partner Finovista, organized a workshop to promote e-cooking under the Go-Electric campaign of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Government of India
Chandigarh ,  The workshop took place on 5th M222arch 2024 at CII Campus in Sector 31, Chandigarh.
Key speakers at the event included Er. Ranjit Singh, Superintending Engineer-Cum-SDA Chandigarh; Vimal Kumar, Co-founder of Finovista; and Dr. Nick Rousseau, International Liaison Manager for the MECS programme. They addressed officials from different departments and students.
Er. Ranjit Singh highlighted that India has emerged as a leader in energy transition, exceeding renewable energy targets ahead of schedule. The workshop aligns with the commitment to Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), a global movement launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at COP26 in 2021. Mission LiFE aims to promote sustainable lifestyles, with e-cooking being a key pathway toward this mission. He emphasized that, given the rising fuel prices and increasing supply pressures, India needs a clean, sustainable, and affordable e-cooking solution to reduce dependence on imports and enhance energy security.
Vimal Kumar, Co-founder of Finovista, and Dr. Nick Rousseau, International Liaison Manager, highlighted that access to clean cooking energy is integral to India’s energy transition journey. E-cooking is positioned as an environmentally friendly practice for all Indians, encompassing both urban and rural households. Given the large population, a shift in behavior towards eco-friendly cooking practices can have a profound impact on the planet.
