Panchkula, December 13, – In a remarkable feat, Operation Smile-2, undertaken by the Haryana Police, successfully located and reunited 3219 missing children and adults, spreading happiness to more than 3000 homes in November alone. Additionally, the operation rescued 561 beggars and 518 child laborers from exploitative situations.
During this impactful initiative, police teams courageously rescued 893 missing children, 853 adults, 561 beggars, and 518 children subjected to bonded labor. Furthermore, 484 children were placed in children’s homes as part of the comprehensive campaign.
Haryana’s Director General of Police, Shri Shatrujeet Kapur, expressed the police force’s unwavering commitment to actively identifying and reuniting missing persons with their families. He commended the police teams for their exceptional dedication and commitment, going above and beyond the call of duty to achieve this success.
The combined efforts of field units and the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the State Crime Branch resulted in tracing 2246 individuals, of which 973 were missing. The AHTU also identified and rescued 82 individuals above 18 years and 104 children below 18 years, highlighting their commitment to eradicating human trafficking.
DGP Kapur urged the public to partner in this noble cause, emphasizing that the police force is dedicated to ensuring the safe return of missing persons. He encouraged citizens to promptly contact the nearest police station or the emergency number 112 if they have information about missing individuals.
Highlighting the ongoing efforts, Kapur stated that these campaigns are significantly aided by the Child Welfare Committee and other concerned departments. He outlined the systematic approach of police teams, reaching out to various institutions, including shelters, bus stands, railway stations, and public places, to locate missing children and persons.
DGP Kapur acknowledged the immense power of social media in finding missing persons globally. He urged citizens to utilize this influential medium, emphasizing that a simple post can contribute significantly to reuniting a missing person with their family. The unwavering commitment of the Haryana Police to the community’s well-being remains steadfast, and their tireless efforts in the search for missing persons will continue.
