The 14th Chrysanthemum Exhibition organized by Horticulture Division of Panjab University in Prof. R.C. Paul Rose Garden, Panjab University, Chandigarh from December 12-17, 2023 was inaugurated today by Prof. Renu Vig, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Panjab University. Prof. Rumina Sethi, Dean of University Instruction presided over the Exhibition. Prof. Y.P. Verma, Registrar was the Guest of Honour.
The exhibition was attended by eminent officers, academicians and students of the University. Prof. Krishan Kumar, Secretary to Vice Chancellor; Prof. Jatinder Grover, Dean Student Welfare; Prof. Sukhbir Kaur, Prof. Gurmeet Singh and other fellows of Panjab University; Prof. Jagat Bhushan, Controller of Examinations; Prof. Namita Gupta, Director, Public Relations; Dr. Suman Sumi, Vice President, PUTA; Ms. Naini Gupta, General Secretary, PUSA (NT); Wardens of hostels and other members of teaching & non-teaching unionswere also present at the event. The event was well attended and appreciated by faculty members, non teaching employees, students and general public. They were deeply impressed with the exhibits displayed at the venue. The exhibit won by Panjab University at 36thChrysanthemum Exhibition organized by Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh was also at display at the exhibition.
There were about 20 arrangements at the exhibition. The exhibition had about116, including five new varieties of Chrysanthemum and about 3500potted plants. Five new varieties were displayed this year namely Amox, Gurdeep, Max, Honeydew and Curl. The visitors appreciated these arrangements and were seen getting their photographs clicked with these arrangements and fountains.
Prof. Renu Vig, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the Horticulture Division, Panjab University and congratulated the staff of the Division for successful organization of the Exhibition.
Er. Amandeep Singla, Assistant Engineer (Hort.) apprised those present that like previous years, this 14th edition of Chrysanthemum Exhibition has been organised by the Horticulture Division to mark the advent of spring season. Simultaneously, it gives a message of environment protection to the masses and an opportunity to display the best Chrysanthemum collection of Horticulture Division which have been nurtured with hard work all through the year.
