Government’s Largest Outreach Initiative Takes Flight in Punjab: Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra Launched

Chandigarh, November 22, 2023: In a momentous development, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, a nationwide outreach initiative spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has embarked on a new chapter with its launch in Punjab. The Yatra, which commenced from the Punjab Raj Bhawan, was ceremoniously flagged off by the esteemed Governor, Banwarilal Purohit. This initiative, originating from Khunti, Jharkhand, on November 15, 2023, dedicated to tribal areas, has now expanded its footprint to cover the entire nation.
This Yatra represents the largest-ever outreach initiative by the Government of India. Rooted in the vision of inclusive development, it has consistently aimed to ensure that the benefits of government schemes saturate every corner of the nation, achieving 100% coverage. The Yatra signifies a significant stride towards realizing this objective through extensive outreach, information dissemination, and empowering citizens to actively contribute to the country’s development.
Real-time data on ground-level activities, facilitated by Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) vans, is systematically captured on a portal developed by the Digital India Corporation under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. A total of 116 vans are slated to cover Punjab, with 3 already deployed in SAS Nagar and an additional 6 in Roopnagar districts. The remaining vans will be launched in a phased manner over the coming days, covering around 13,000 Gram Panchayats and around 400 urban locations. Each day, the vans will make two halts in prominent places, facilitating health camps, Aadhar enrollment, and other essential services.
As the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra unfolds across Punjab, it is poised to become a transformative force, ensuring the far-reaching impact of government initiatives and fostering a sense of active participation among citizens in shaping the destiny of the nation. This momentous journey exemplifies the government’s commitment to an equitable and prosperous India for all.
Designed as a multifaceted approach towards development, Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra aims to extend the advantages of government schemes to all segments of society, showcasing a concerted effort towards inclusive development. Ground activities will include various Jan Bhagidari events, such as interactions with beneficiaries, celebrations of Gram Panchayat achievements, on-the-spot quiz competitions, and health camps.
The overarching goal of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is to raise awareness and facilitate the delivery of welfare scheme benefits, spanning sanitation, financial services, electricity, housing, and more. Highlighted schemes include Ayushman Bharat, PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, and PM Awas Yojana, among others.
