‘Tarang – Celebrating Collectivisation’ – NABARD FPO Mela
‘Tarang – Celebrating Collectivisation’ – NABARD FPO Mela was inaugurated by Shri Raghunath B, Chief General Manager, NABARD on 1st March 2024. ‘Tarang’ is being organised by NABARD in association with Small Farmers’ Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC), and Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), at Lajpat Rai Bhawan, Sector 15, Chandigarh from 01st March 2024 to 03rd March 2024
Shri Raghunath during the inauguration welcomed all the participants FPO/OFPO members to the FPO Mela and said that such events serve as showcase of agriculture innovations, technologies and best practices to enhance productivity and sustainability in farming. He highlighted that the purpose of the FPO Mela ‘Tarang – Celebrating Collectivisation’ is to demonstrate the product of the FPOs, in order to enable the marketing and brand building of the of FPO products, and uplift their sales across the country with help of ONDC network.
Shri R. P. Singh, General Manager during his address said the objective of Mela is to provide a platform for farmers to directly connect buyers and consumers (i.e. B2B & B2C), access market more effectively and negotiate better price for their produce while providing consumers with quality products. He advised the FPOs to focus on the branding and packaging of the products along with the quality aspect as per the customer requirement. The online marketing along with the offline modes is key to business diversification and business expansion. Representatives of SFAC, ONDC and Mystore app also attended the event on the day and guided participants for business expansion and ONDC onboarding details.
After inaugural function of mela, CGM and GM visited each stall and interacted with farmers and artisans about their product and their marketing. CGM encouraged all the participants for grand sale, business avenues and future endeavours.
42 FPOs/OFPOs from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir promoted by NABARD & SFAC are participating in the three day mela at Chandigarh. The FPO/OFPOs have brought vide range of farm and non-farm products products viz. Rice, Mustard oil, Honey, Turmeric, Spices, Pickles, Jaggery products, Spices, Phulkari items, Pashmina, Embroidery Shawls and Stoles, Durries, Carpet, etc. for display and sale at the mela. The farm produce also includes millets based products and organic produce. The Officials urged the visitors and all to visit the Mela and encourage the rural farmers and artisans and enjoy the shopping of the various farm and non-farm produce. Live performance by RJ/Singer/Musician/artist is also scheduled in the evening daily by the promoter partners of the event i.e. Radio Mirchi (98.3 FM). ‘Tarang’ may be visited from 01st to 03rd March 2024 -11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
